Mega Bloks pirate ship conversion level deck

Description

When making a new deck, you'll want to make it as flat as possible, to fit your miniatures bases. Mega Bloks decks tend to be very uneven. Use building blocks to provide support and popsickle sticks create an even underlayer. It doesn't have to cover everything, just don't leave any major gaps that will create a 'softer' spot in you final deck. The veneer has some strength to it, certainly when you reinforce it with cardstock. When you've created the deck support, you'll want to start creating the deck itself from the veneer. Use a simple sheet of paper first to make a template of the deck. Lay it over the ship, push it in all the corners with a sharp tool and cut it to size. If you overcut somewhere, use some masking tape to make the paper deck a perfect match. Then copy this paper template to the veneer sheet. Cut it out and make sure it fits by carefully sanding the edges. You might already want to secure the extra cardstock layer to the underside before carving out the planks, because this will greatly decrease the integrity of the veneer.
