Lately I've been purchasing prepainted Heroclix and Mage Knight figurines to supplement my miniature collection. Since I use them for tabletop roleplay, I have to rebase them (using washers). I also do repaints where I deem them necessary, usually touching up some sloppy paint work, but sometimes giving the figurine a complete make-over. The figures then get dipped in Army Painter Quickshade (strong tone), which provides beautiful shading, but also seals in the (re)paint job. Finally I coat the minis in matt varnish, to get rid of the glossy shine of the dip and to seal the minis even more. The scenery in this set-up is by Dwarven Forge and Psomminiature. The figure on the left is the Horrorclix vampire enforcer, who needed little reworking. The one on the right comes from Mage Knight and was rather poorly painted. I touched him up and gave him white sleeves, to add some interest.
What kind of tabletops do you do mate?
We play Pathfinder. As you can tell from my many pictures, we're playing through (a modified version of) the 'Curse of the Crimson Throne' adventure path.
